FAQ

How is it different from a dog kart or a dog sled?

In a dog sled or dog kart, you sit in a vehicle pulled by dogs. In dog trekking, you walk on foot, harnessed directly to your own dog. The connection is much more direct and physical. It’s a shared walking experience with the animal, not a passive ride.

Do you need to be fit to do cani-hiking?

A good level of fitness is recommended: you will walk for about 2 hours on natural terrain. The dog’s pulling significantly reduces the effort required, allowing you to cover 3 to 8 km without excessive fatigue. You don’t need to be an experienced hiker, but you should feel comfortable walking.

Do I really guide the dog, or does it do whatever it wants ?

You are fully in control!
The instructor will teach you the voice commands and precise gestures to speed up, slow down, or change direction. The dogs are trained to respond to human commands. At the start of the hike, the instructor will guide you step by step to help you confidently handle your dog.

What is dog hiking? How does it work?

Dog-sledding is a type of hiking where you are harnessed to a sled dog via a lead. The dog pulls you along, while you guide its movements with your voice and gestures. It’s a combination of hiking and interacting with animals: you walk, but the dog shares the effort with you.
