Description

Just like in the Far North, learn how to drive a dog sled.

With guidance and supervision, you’ll learn the basics of dog sledding, safety rules, and how to respect the environment and your dogs.

Once you’ve gotten to know your dogs, become a “musher” by guiding your own sled. During your outing, the musher’s team will lead the way, and you’ll follow them along forest trails.

Why choose Takamaka ?

Unlike snowmobiling or skijoring, which rely on machines or sports equipment, dog sledding creates a living connection with your dogs. You communicate, you adapt, you understand their energy. It’s a relationship, not just a ride.

Dog sledding is for those who want to go beyond just watching. For thrill-seekers in the great outdoors, for those curious about the world of Nordic dogs, and for those looking for a winter activity that goes off the beaten path.

FAQ

What is the difference between a sleigh ride and driving a sleigh ?

During the ride, you sit in the musher’s sled while they drive for you, allowing you to enjoy the scenery.

When you’re driving, you stand at the back of your own sled with the dogs under your care. It’s a much more active and engaging experience !

At what age can you start driving a sled?

Sledding is available for ages 12 and up. Good physical condition is recommended, as you will need to run and push the sled.

Do you need driving experience?

No experience necessary!
A comprehensive 20-minute briefing is included: the musher will teach you the voice commands, how to brake, how to maintain your balance, and what to do. You’ll set off on a guided self-drive tour, with the musher leading the way ahead of you.

Is the work physically demanding?

This activity is suitable for those in good physical condition.
You may need to get off the sled and push to help the dogs. On flat ground and downhill, the main focus is on maintaining balance and following commands.
This activity is not permitted for pregnant women.
