Departing from Doussard, teams board their catamaran and have 2 hours to navigate as efficiently as possible to complete the set course ! While some crews race, others can enjoy a complementary activity — Beach Party, Raft Building Challenge or the Great Navigators Boat Rally — for a fully lakeside and unforgettable day.

How the activity works
🗺️ Organisation & How it works
After an introduction to the team and the boats, and a hands-on familiarisation with the catamaran, teams are briefed on the regatta format and the different obstacles they'll need to overcome to complete the course. Every crew member learns their role on board, masters the essential manoeuvres and builds confidence on their vessel — no prior experience needed.
🚩 Phase 2 — The Grand Départ!
As soon as the foghorn sounds, it's your time to shine… Go!! Crews launch onto Lake Annecy in an electrifying atmosphere. Sail handling, reading the wind, anticipating the buoy turns — every decision matters and every second is precious. Collective tactics always triumph over individual performance.

We'll be waiting at the finish line for the boat ranking and a prize-giving ceremony in the best of spirits! A moment of shared pride, laughter and well-deserved celebration — whether you led the fleet or bravely battled the elements !

Do you need sailing experience to take part ?
Not at all! The regatta is designed for complete beginners. A comprehensive technical briefing is given before departure to cover the basics of catamaran sailing. Takamaka's qualified instructors accompany and supervise every crew throughout the activity.
Where does the regatta start and what does the course look like ?
The regatta departs from Doussard or Menthon, at the southern tip of Lake Annecy, in one of the most spectacular settings in Haute-Savoie. The marked course is adapted to participants' level and offers breathtaking views of the Alps and the lake's shores
How long does the activity last ?
The regatta itself lasts 2 hours on the water. Including the briefing, catamaran familiarisation and prize-giving, allow approximately 3 to 4 hours in total — a perfect half-day of exceptional team building.
How many participants can take part ?
Each catamaran carries a crew 2 people. The activity therefore adapts to different group sizes. For larger groups, Takamaka organises the regatta simultaneously alongside another lake activity to ensure everyone is active at the same time. Contact us for a personalised quote.
What should participants wear ?
Comfortable clothing that can get slightly wet is recommended (the lake and the wind can have their surprises!), along with non-slip closed-toe shoes and a light windproof jacket. Takamaka will share detailed clothing guidance before your event.
Is the regatta available all year round ?
The Sailing Regatta is primarily offered in spring, summer and autumn, when weather conditions on the lake are favourable for sailing. Takamaka monitors forecasts closely and adapts to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all participants.
Can the regatta be combined with other Takamaka activities ?
Absolutely — and it's actively encouraged for larger groups! The regatta pairs perfectly with the Raft Building Challenge, the Great Navigators Boat Rally or the Beach Party to create a fully lake-based day of activities. Takamaka will help you design a fully bespoke programme.
